Thorney Park is a 50 acre former mineral site, part water and part landscaped grassland. The park provides walking, bird watching and picnic opportunities for visitors. The large lake and nearby pond are home to many overwintering birds with information panels on bird life.
Thorney Park combines woodland, grassland, and lake habitats. Suitable for all walking abilities with flat terrain. A few logs along the walk allow for great seated views of the lake.
Herons, Kingfishers, Eurasion blackcaps, and Eurasian green woodpeckers have all been seen here. At all times of year, you can see numerous waterfowl on the lake.
